Bad weather and the Tar Heels not seeing a lot of success in recent years has caused the ticket prices for the upcoming Duke vs North Carolina game in Chapel Hill to drop to a five-year low, and it might still continue to fall.

With a snow storm headed in that direction, there’s a chance not too many people are that ecstatic about filling the Dean Smith center which can seat 21,500 people. North Carolina have won their last five games in the ACC, improving to 6-4 in conference play, putting them 1.5 games behind Duke.

However, it’s still not enough to get the tickets to sell for a lot of money. According to Stubhub, the average price for tonight’s game is $312, almost $100 cheaper than the average ticket price for the game played at the Dean Smith center last season, and $200 cheaper than the average price for a ticket in the same fixture in 2012.

The cheapest ticket available through the website is at $68 for an upper-level seat, while lower-level seat along the baseline was only selling for $101. These numbers are likely to drop even further if the snow storm is as bad as some predict.

According to Seatgeek that through the last three games between the two teams, tickets have never been sold for less than $125. The prices when Duke are hosting are usually higher because Cameron Indoor stadium can only seat 9314 people.

Duke are playing an unranked North Carolina for the 31st time out of their 136 meetings. Duke have won 7 out of the last 9 meetings between the two teams, including both of the games in 2013.
