After losing Aqib Talib to the Denver Broncos in a very surprising move, the New England Patriots didn’t wait until they got themselves a premier cornerback to fill in, signing Darrelle Revis on a one year deal after he was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, making the biggest set of news on the second day of NFL free agency.

Revis going to the Patriots wasn’t the only thing worth mentioning, as the Denver Broncos continued spending big money, this time getting DeMarcus Ware who was released by the Dallas Cowboys whiel a former Bronco, Eric Decker, signed with the New York Jets.

Revis to Patriots: Revis’ $16 million a season were too much for the Bucs, while no team wanted to enter into a trade deal as well. So Revis was released, and the Patriots jumped on the opportunity quicker than anyone else, signing him to a one-year, $12 million deal. There’s a good chance Revis is an upgrade to Talib, and it’ll also be interesting to see him against his former team, the New York Jets and Rex Ryan. Revis had 50 tackles, two interceptions and 11 passes defended last season for Tampa Bay.

Ware to Broncos: One of the more productive pass rushers in the NFL over the last decade, DeMarcus Ware was released by the Cowboys to save $7.4 million and push them under the cap. Almost half the league went after him, but the Broncos, hungry for a Super Bowl and a pass rusher, signed him to a 3-year, $30 million deal, including $20 million guaranteed. Ware has 117 sacks of the last nine seasons, reaching the Pro Bowl every year from 2006 to 2012.

Decker to Jets: The Broncos were expected to see Eric Decker walk away for a big offer they weren’t going to give him. The wide receiver, who has caught 24 touchdowns over the last couple of seasons to go with back-to-back 1000 yard season signed with the offense-needy Jets on a five-year, $36.25 million deal, with $15 million guaranteed. This wasn’t the only move the Jets made, adding tackle Breno Giacomini, who started for the Seahawks in the Super Bowl and will fill in for the departing Austin Howard.

Tate to the Lions: Another Super Bowl champion the Seahawks are losing is Golden Tate, signing a five-year deal worth $31 million with $13.25 million guaranteed. Tate had a record year with 64 receptions for 898 yards and also doing quite well in punt returns.

McCown to Buccaneers: Josh McCown was the most sought after quarterback and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers eventually landed him, signing him on a two-year, $10 million deal after a very good half-season with the Bears in 2013. McCown isn’t promised the starting job, and instead will compete with Mike Glennon and maybe others for the spot.
