As expected, Real Madrid beating Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey final brought out the finest and cruelest in meme humor, which takes note of the amazing Gareth Bale goal but also of Lionel Messi being a no-show in yet another match, and how bad Barca look when they don’t have penalty kicks to help them score goals.
Real Madrid won the Copa Del Rey with a 2-1 win, finally beating Barcelona after two previous losses this season. Gareth Bale made an absolute joke of Marc Bartra as he scored the winning goal with five minutes left in the match, and ended any claim of him not showing up for big matches, even though it wasn’t a very good performance from him.
Barcelona lost for the third time in a row in all competitions, something that hasn’t happened since 2003. They’ve pretty much lost three titles in a week, as the league title seems to be too far away for them to win, the Champions League dream is over with that loss to Atletico and now comes the minor competition they were hoping of being comforted by.
Gerardo Martino shoulders some of the blame – it doesn’t matter how much. For the first time since 2008, Barcelona will end the season without winning a title (no one actually cares about the Super Cup), and there’s a very good chance Martino won’t be the man who’ll be assigned the job to pick up the pieces next season.
