The nosedive that has been the 2013-14 season for Manchester United under the trusted hands of David Moyes continues, hitting another low with an abysmal performance at Goodison Park against his former club Everton, which obviously generated plenty of memes and jokes at the expense of the Scottish manager.
It means officially no Champions League football for Manchester United next season, and probably nothing in Europe at all. It means the first ever Merseyside sweep, losing four times to Liverpool and Everton, for the club since the football league began. Moyes keeps adding special records to his debut season at Manchester United.
His pre and post game talks are embarrassing, matched by most performances his team gives on the pitch this season. Predictable, slow, primitive football, that didn’t lead him to a lot of success at Everton, and hasn’t done much for him with a higher quality of players at Old Trafford.
No more excuses, no more logical explanations. Moyes just wants this season to be over, hoping that he’ll be given another season, and enough money to change a club that has been rotting at the edges for years without Ferguson doing enough to fix it, and that rot has started to eat at the insides as well.
Moyes isn’t the only one to blame for this failure of a season, but he remains the easiest target, and his former club doing much better without him only makes it more painful for him to endure.
