It’s going to take time for David Moyes to disappear of the face of trending memes. Ryan Giggs making a successful debut only highlighted the failure under the previous manager, although it those raise doubts about the whole issue of loyalty between players, their head coach and the staff around him at Manchester United.
But when trying to be completely objective and unbiased about something, results are the best thing to look at. Moyes didn’t get good enough results, so all the rumors around a sabotage from the staff and the players, helping him meet his demise at Old Trafford, are less than relevant.
Giggs won 4-0 on his managerial debut. The players looked like they’ve been eating something quite high up the Scoville scale before they went onto the pitch. Movement, hunger, desire and some sort of happiness and high morale we didn’t see before were in abundance. No change in tactics or skill, but mental changes sometimes, especially in the short term, are just as important.
What will come next? The jokes about Giggs and his affairs and how he and the Class of 92 got rid of David Moyes will disappear if Manchester United pull off a strong finish to this season. The failed Scottish manager will be a forgotten chapter in the club’s history, and there might even be pressure on the Glazers (who are completely disconnected from the fans it seems) to keep those who played under Ferguson in charge.
