Spain vs Netherlands

The World Cup carries on into its second day, with the match between Spain and the Netherlands of Group B catching most of the focus. If you don’t have a TV to watch the match, which should be fantastic, or maybe don’t know where to find links for online viewing, we’re here to help.

Spain are the big favorites heading into the match and almost any match they’re playing. The two-time European champions and defending World champions, beating the Dutch four years ago in the final. A team built on ball movement, solid defense and quality midfield. Strikers? That’s a luxury that don’t always need, but maybe against the Netherlands, playing with five or even six players in defense, they’ll need more than ball movement to break the parking bus.

Louis van Gaal’s side isn’t looking at its best. Despite a comfortable qualifying campaign, this Dutch side isn’t filled with world class players. Yes, they still have Robin van Persie, Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder. It will be these three players with almost the entire attacking game resting on their shoulders, while the midfield behind them and especially the defense is filled with potential but mostly youth and inexperience.
