The 2014 World Cup continues, opening its knockout stage with two round of 16 matches: Colombia vs Uruguay, Brazil vs Chile. If you don’t have anywhere to watch or are simply too lazy to start working hard and looking for yourselves, we’re here to help.
The first match of the day (13:00 local time) will be between Brazil and Chile. The host nation’s team finished first in Group A, coming ahead of Mexico, Croatia and Cameroon with 7 points in three matches. Neymar, with four goals, is their top scorer. Brazil have made it past the round of 16 every time they’ve reached that stage since that format began in 1986.
Chile finished second in Group B, behind Netherlands who they lost against but ahead of both Spain and Australia. The last couple of times they’ve made it to the round of 16 ended in defeat – both against Brazil.
The second match will take place four hours later between Colombia and Uruguay. Colombia finished first in Group C with a perfect record of three wins against Greece, the Ivory Coast and Japan, with James Rodriguez leading the way scoring three goals. Colombia have never been past the round of 16 in a World Cup.
Uruguay finished second in group D – behind Costa Rica who they lost to but ahead of both England and Italy, beating the two European “giants.” Uruguay made it all the way to the semifinal four years ago.
