The Decision 2.0 left the Miami Heat as the team feeling betrayed, while the Cleveland Cavaliers enjoyed the new thought process of LeBron James, choosing to return to them, and obviously sparking plenty of memes that also make fun of Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony and mention the San Antonio Spurs.
Why the Spurs? Because their win in the finals changed the course of history. Instead of the Miami Heat making that three-peat and staying together for another year or more (which would have happened), LeBron James left. Chris Bosh is staying, and Wade will probably too, but things will be very different in South Beach from now on.
Anthony was waiting for James to make his decision. Now he can make his, and rid us all of the anticipation. James is joining Kyrie Irving and two more number one draft picks. Andrew Wiggins, a rookie, and Anthony Bennett, who had a terrible rookie season. And there’s the prospect of Kevin Love as well via trade, although that’s unlikely.
The Cavs have immediately become contenders in the East, although it’s too soon to say that they’re the best team right now. We still need to see how the Chicago Bulls respond, what the Indiana Pacers do this offseason, before we can have our preseason favorites.
