After four games with changing home fields, the Los Angeles Dodgers come away as the big winners from their double series against the Los Angeles Angels, picking up a 7-0 win thanks to a dominant performance from Hyun-Jin Ryu and some excellent hitting from Hanley Ramirez and Adrian Gonzalez.

Winning three of four, the Dodgers open a 3.5 game lead on top of the NL West as the San Francisco Giants can’t find the form from earlier this season. The Angels lost some traction as they keep on chasing the Oakland Athletics, now three games behind the only 70-win team in Baseball this season.

Ryu picked up his 13th win of the season with seven innings in which he allowed just two hits, walking one batter and striking out four. The Angels finished with 2-for-28 when coming to the plate as Mike Trout and Josh Hamilton both didn’t get any hits while David Freese, not exactly the team’s top performer of late, picked up his seventh error of the season with another bad throw, although this time it didn’t lead to a run.

The Dodgers started things going in the third inning as Hanley Ramirez scored a double-RBI single, followed by a sacrifice fly from Matt Kemp to score Gonzalez. It became 4-0 in the sixth inning after Juan Uribe hit a deep RBI single, followed by another double-RBI, this time from Adrian Gonzalez and a ninth inning score to cap off the fantastic day as Miguel Rojas drove home Carl Crawford.

C.J. Wilson had a rough day with his start (8-8 this season), giving up six hits in 5.2 innings, walking four and allowing four runs. What came after wasn’t much better, with runs given up by both Cory Rasmus and Cam Bedrosian, who has an ERA of 9.35 this season, so it’s actually a wonder the Dodgers didn’t do more with him pitching for 1.2 innings.

There was one moment during the sixth inning as Pujols picked up a hit, ending an 0-for-20 streak from him, Trout and Hamilton. Yasiel Puig ended those hopes of a comeback as Hamilton’s deep drive was caught by central fielder next to the warning track.

It’s just great to get wins against good teams like that. It builds our confidence up to come in here and get two games in the way we did. Last year, I had that really symbolic game for me. I just tried to duplicate the outcome. It’s a great thing to be on a winning streak and to take the series here.
