Match Highlights – Barcelona vs León

The debut of Luis Suarez went smoothly, but the 6-0 win for Barcelona over Leon didn’t present his first goal for his new club. Lionel Messi opened things, Neymar carried on with some brilliant stuff followed by Munir El Haddadi and Sandro Ramirez showing the possible bright future this club has from within.

Club León, the current defending Mexican champions, couldn’t really create any sort of opposition or problems for Barcelona. This was an example of how devastating Barcelona can be, at least when playing inside their home stadium, which always gives teams that haven’t made the right tactical decision that the pitch is never ending, huge, and impossible to cover to entirety.

The scoring was opened with a header from Lionel Messi, who once again didn’t have himself a quiet summer. Still, it doesn’t seem like the gem in the Barcelona crown (which is trophy-less from last season) is tired or carrying too much fatigue going into the new season. Maybe there’s some renewed hunger there that was missing before.

Barcelona beat Leon

Neymar was the star of the first half. He scored twice – first finishing off a fine passing move from Barcelona, followed by a cheeky backheel finish as the Mexican defense fell apart. The second half belonged to El Haddadi and Sandro, who combined to score the three goals, with Sandro also setting up the 18-year old who is already starring for the Spanish U-19 side. Sandro scored the final goal, with Luis Suarez mostly staying on the left wing, not involved too much in 13 minutes of football.

As for the new names, who are still listed on Barcelona B: El Haddadi was born in Madrid and is of Moroccan descent. So far he is playing for the younger Spanish teams. He joined Barcelona in 2011 and has already generated quite a lot of interest around Europe. Sandro is from the Canary Islands, growing up in Las Palmas. He joined Barcelona in 2009.

Ivan Rakitic got in a beautiful pass that set up the fourth goal for Barcelona in a solid performance from him as well. Barcelona have been busy this summer bulking up the squad, even more so than Real Madrid, even if the names aren’t as shiny. With Atletico Madrid seemingly spending their money from sales wisely, we might have ourselves once again a triangle of a title race, which makes things so much more interesting.
