Some people just don’t know when it’s time for them to shut up. Paul George is out for the season, so maybe the boredom from his injury made him feel like he should share with us his opinions on the Ray Rice and case and domestic abuse in general. Obviously, he used twitter, and turned himself into a laughing stock.

George was trying to sound sympathetic towards Rice while being against violence against women at the same time. Maybe his heart is in the right place, but it sure didn’t come off that way, as one might expect when an athlete tries to speak his mind about something he clearly has no knowledge about.

This was the transcript of George’s tweets:

Paul George @Yg_Trece 路 1h Keep it 100 lets act on this police violence like we actin on this Ray Rice case! Stay strong homie !

Paul George @Yg_Trece 路 1h They crackin down on breh!

Paul George @Yg_Trece 路 1h聽I don’t condone hittin women or think it’s coo BUT if SHE ain’t trippin then I ain’t trippin.. Lets keep it movin lol let that man play!

Paul George @Yg_Trece 路 1h聽I get it tho NFL.. You just don’t hit women!

Retweeted by Paul George mafia_rick @Been_Selfmade 路 40m聽@Yg_Trece you right bro I Dont think its kool that they trying to destroy that man character off one mistake he made in the heat of things

Paul George @Yg_Trece 路 34m聽If you in a relationship and a woman hit you first and attacking YOU.. Then you obviously ain’t beatin HER. Homie made A bad choice! #StayUp

George got quite the backlash from his comments. In today’s world, what goes up on Twitter becomes a headline on a major media outlet in a matter of minutes. George deleted the lines in bold and finished with this clever conclusion:

Let me apologize to the women and to the VICTIMS of domestic violence people my intent was not to downplay the situation..

This is what happens when you combine having too much time on your hands and not realizing the power of social media in the hands of a 20-something who clearly needs to think more about what he allows people to see from the workings of his own mind.
