Eagles vs Colts
The Philadelphia Eagles are hoping that their offensive line problems won’t get in the way of a rare 2-0 start for them, going on the road to play the Indianapolis Colts, knowing that losing twice in a row to start the season will be a major blow to their playoff aspirations.

The Colts have injury problems of their own, aside from their loss in the opening week against the Broncos. Their leading pass rusher from last season, Robert Mathis, won’t play again in 2014, something that puts even more pressure on Andrew Luck to carry this team forward. He didn’t have the best of games, especially early on, against the Broncos, but like most quarterbacks, he is a very different beast when playing at home.

The same can be said about the Eagles, who struggled in the first half against the Jaguars last week. Nick Foles went 12 of 24 for 139 yards in the first half before completing 15 of 21 throws for 183 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the final 30 minutes. Not knowing exactly what his offensive line will look like after some panic signings through the week isn’t great for a quarterback trying to create some momentum.

The Eagles haven’t had a 2-0 start to the season since 1993, although it doesn’t really mean anything. The important issues will be getting a lot more consistency from Foles, and also making LeSean McCoy have a much better performance than his 3.5 yards per carry against the Jaguars. Darren Sproles should be able to make things easier for him, but a week of learning should make Indianapolis a lot more difficult to run against.

One problem for the Colts this season is the AFC South being a bit more difficult. The Texans aren’t going to be pathetic for two straight seasons. Losing early makes it quite difficult to catch up. The Colts need to get a ground game going, something they’ve been struggling with for quite some time. In short, playing better than last week is a must.

The Eagles can run the ball. From what we’ve seen from the Colts, they probably can’t. Getting something early is probably a must for Indianapolis, who can’t afford to be chasing a team without more than one offensive option for very long. The Eagles are in a slightly better situation, but still have to put in a better performance than they did against the Jaguars.
