Match Highlights – Manchester City vs Tottenham

Sergio Aguero

Another season, another terrible visit to Tottenham to Manchester City, losing 4-1 as Sergio Aguero scored four goals in the impressive victory. Christian Eriksen had one for Spurs, as each side also missed a penalty kick, while Spurs finished the match with just 10 men on the field after Federico Fazio was sent off.

Sergio Aguero opened the match with some clinical finishing in the penalty box, left too alone inside the box while defenders were standing and watching him dribble to score the opening goal with a nice shot to the corner. Two minutes later, Eriksen made the most of a Fernando mistake, losing the ball 30 meters from goal which allowed the Danish midfielder to give Spurs a little bit of hope, which didn’t last long.

In the 20th minute Frank Lampard was tripped by Erik Lamela in the penalty box in a very soft decision, which allowed Aguero to score his second goal of the match. Lampard later left the pitch with an injury, and some would say it’s something having to do with Karma for going on so easily in the box. Aguero missed another penalty kick 12 minutes later. It was a clear foul this time by Kaboul, but Aguero missed the shot and the rebound.

That didn’t change the direction of the match, but Roberto Soldado had a chance to even things up again in the second half after a very dodgy decision by Jonathan Moss. The Spanish striker stepped up and missed, killing any chance of momentum for Tottenham.

Not long after Manchester City were with a two goal lead and confident they won’t drop it. Aguero was caught from behind by Federico Fazio in front of goal. Fazio was sent off, and Aguero had himself a hat trick to celebrate. The fourth goal for Aguero and City wasn’t a penalty, finding the far corner of Hugo Lloris’ once again in the 75th minute, doing a wonderful job off of a through ball, including leaving Vertonghen on the ground with some poor defending.

Manchester City are now two points behind Chelsea, waiting for a favorable result, while Spurs find themselves at sixth, but with a chance to fall at least five or six places, depending on other results.
