A fantastic football match at the Hawthorns ended in a 2-2 draw between West Brom and Manchester United, as the visitors had to come back from behind twice thanks to goals from Marouane Fellaini and Daley Blind, although it doesn’t really help them in their plight to move up the Premier League table.
Manchester United were the more dangerous side, but their weakness when it comes to defensive execution, right now probably at the blame of the defensive midfield, seemed to be too much for them to overcome at least two times too many.
The first goal came with Andre Wisdom doing the set up job, attacking from the right wing and bringing a very good ball near the box to Stephane Sessegnon. The French midfielder didn’t wait too long for a Manchester United player to come close to him and sent a wonderful shot that was too much for David de Gea to handle.
Manchester United equalized early in the second half, as Marouane Fellaini did something he hasn’t done one time since joining the club: A brilliant individual display of skill and finishing, dropping the ball from the air, moving past a defender and launching an accurate and powerful shot to the top of the net, something Boaz Myhill couldn’t handle.
More poor defending from Manchester United allowed Berahino in the 66th minute to put West Brom in front once more, set up by an excellent through ball from Chris Brunt, leaving Berahino alone in front of De Gea to finish with class.
Manchester United salvaged a deserved point in the 87th minute as Blind scored from the edge of the box with a low and accurate shot to the corner.
With 12 points, Manchester United are in sixth place, one point behind Liverpool and West Ham for fourth. West Brom are 14th with nine points in the very tight and deep middle of the table at this moment.
