A special day in the Champions League with matches in groups E through H, with 40 goals scored, including eight in the 7-1 win for Bayern Munich over Roma and seven in the 7-0 win for Shakhtar Donetsk in Belarus over BATE Borisov, as Luiz Adriano tied the Lionel Messi record with five goals. Messi himself scored in a 3-1 Barcelona win over Ajax, while Chelsea beat Maribor 6-0.
Group E
CSKA Moscow 2 Manchester City 2: Strange things happen in Russia, as things get very bad for Manchester City, still without a win in the competition. They led 2-0 with goals from James Milner and Sergio Aguero, but Seydou Doumbia put his team back in the match with a goal and saved the day with a dive in the penalty box, allowing Bebars Natcho to equalize from the penalty spot.
AS Roma 1 Bayern Munich 7: The Olimpico was packed for the first time in years to witness a humiliating match. Arjen Robben scored twice, helped out by Mario Gotze, Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller, Franck Ribery and Xherdan Shaqiri. Gervinho scored for the humiliated home team.

APOEL 0 PSG 1: An 87th minute goal from Edinson Cavani kept PSG at the top spot of the group.
Barcelona 3 Ajax 1: A very one sided match that got a little complicated in the end. Neymar and Lionel Messi scored in the first half, but a late goal from Anwar El Ghazi had some people worried inside the stadium. Sandro Ramirez took care of that in injury time.

Chelsea 6 Maribor 0: As one sided as anyone expected as everything continues to come easily for Chelsea this season. Eden Hazard had a brace, helped out by Loic Remy, John Terry, Didier Drogba and an own goal.
Schalke 4 Sporting 3: Maybe the best match of the night, decided by a 93rd minute penalty, scored by Maxim Choupo-Moting after a hand ball by Jonathan Silva. Sporting played most of the match with 10 men. Chiendu Obasi, Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Benedikt Howedes also scored for the winners; Nani and a brace from Adrien Silva scored for Sporting.
