A lot of points are always to be expected when the New Orleans Saints and the Green Bay Pakcers get together, but from their more recent from, it’s quite clear the team with Aaron Rodgers, arguably the best quarterback in the NFL, has the edge going into the game.

The Packers have won four straight games to share a lead in the NFC North with the Lions at 5-2, with Rodgers being close to perfect in these four wins, throwing for 977 yards and 13 touchdowns without any interceptions, as he finished with a 154.5 passer rating as the Packers were the next team in line to decimate the underachieving Carolina Panthers defense, putting 38 points on them.

Rodgers is making Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb look like All-Pros. Nelson is second in the NFL with 712 receiving yards, also pulling in six touchdown passes. Randall Cobb has eight touchdown receptions, second-best in the NFL. The Packers are doing so well despite struggling moving the ball on the ground, unlike last year, as Eddie Lacy has been limited to just 369 yards so far this season, and the Packers are held to 98.7 rushing yards per game.

While the Packers are putting up “only” 226.7 passing yards per game, the Saints are 28th in the NFL this season when it comes to defending the pass, giving up 270.5 yards per game. The Packers are 31st when it comes to stopping the run, giving up more than 147 yards per game on the ground.

The Saints have started the season at 2-4, and one more loss will mark their worst seven-game start under Sean Payton. During his suspension year they also had a 2-5 start, but everyone’s trying to forget about that season, which was followed by the Saints going 11-5 and making the playoffs, losing in Seattle in the divisional round.

Drew Brees is struggling home and away. While he’s putting up nice numbers, he’s making uncharacteristic mistakes, like his fourth quarter interception in the loss to the Detroit Lions. Jimmy Graham playing injured is hurting Brees, and having one of the worst defenses in the NFL isn’t helping either.

The Saints get a lot of yards each game and are doing well on the ground as well (123 yards per game), with Khiry Robinson doing a very good job backed up by Mark Ingram, who usually handles the shorter assignments. Still, with Rodgers in peak condition and form, the Saints can’t afford to make any mistakes on offense, or they’ll be forced to play catch up again, which isn’t their strongest suit.
