There’s a good chance that the Geno Smith experience is over for the New York Jets, at least this season, as the second-year quarterback put in his saddest performance as of yet in a loss to the Buffalo Bills, making him the star of the day-after memes.

Smith completed just two passes while throwing three interceptions before getting benched in favor of Michael Vick, who once again, just like he did in Philadelphia after getting out of jail, finds himself coming from behind to take the starting job.

Yes, Smith completed more passes into the hands of the opposing defense than into the hands of his teammates. After eight starts this season, he has thrown only seven touchdown passes to his 10 interceptions, although his interception ratio has actually dropped from 4.7% to 4.3% of his passes getting picked.

The Jets? They fall to 1-7, and any hope of actually making a shocking, late-season run for the playoffs has disappeared. Maybe things will actually look better with Vick, but Rex Ryan has made some surprising decisions in the past. Who knows – maybe Smith actually gets to keep his job after this.
