The little-on-big guy block is always exciting, and Aaron Brooks standing up and jumping way up high to block Nikola Vucevic was the most replay worthy play as the Chicago Bulls easily beat the terrible Orlando Magic.
Vucevic is probably the best player on the Magic right now, excluding the injured Victor Oladipo. He didn’t play badly as well, scoring 19 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. But as he went for the dunk, covered by Pau Gasol on one side, it was Brooks, all 6 feet and 161 lbs of him, waiting under the basket as a feared rim protector.
Brooks already has three blocks this season. For a guy averaging 0.14 rejections per game through his NBA career, something you expect from an undersized point guard, he seems to be on a record-setting pace, at least by his own standards.
Brooks had a very good game off the bench, scoring 13 points and adding 8 assists. His role as a backup to the often injured Derrick Rose is vital, doing a good job so far with 13.3 points and 5.3 assists coming off the bench this season.
