College Football – Week 12 Scores & Standings

Alabama Stop Mississippi State

Week 12 has been about upsets and narrow escapes, with Alabama being the first team to beat Mississippi State, meaning a big shake up to the SEC and the rankings will follow, while Florida State escape another close on, TCU and Ohio State moving in the right direction and the Pac-12 South becoming very complicated after Arizona State lost to Oregon State.

#1 Mississippi State 20  #5 Alabama 25: The result that will shake up everything in the rankings and in the SEC West, with excellent defense from the Crimson Tide through the first three quarters put them in pole position in the SEC.

#3 Florida State 30  Miami 26: Another terrible first half didn’t stop Florida State from pulling off another comeback, making a 20-3 run in the second half, including a game-winning touchdown run by Dalvin Cook with three minutes left in the game.

#4 TCU 34  Kansas 30: It should have been easier, but TCU managed to comeback from being 10 points down in the third quarter to remain a one loss team and probably in the best position, still, to win the Big 12.

#6 Arizona State 27  Oregon State 35: The dreams of making the playoff are over for the Sun Devils, probably, getting outscored 21-3 in the second half which also means there is a four-way tie for the Pac-12 South at the moment.

#8 Ohio State 31  #25 Minnesota 24: The Buckeyes are running out of challenges in the Big Ten, getting another huge day in the air and on the ground from T.J. Barrett to move a bit closer towards the championship game.

#9 Auburn 7  #15 Georgia 34: The combination of Todd Gurley and Nick Chubb was too much for the crumbling Auburn, falling to 4-3 in the SEC this season, out of any kind of playoff or championship game picture.

#12 Michigan State 37  Maryland 15: A nice way to bounce back from the disappointing loss to Ohio State, but it probably won’t be enough for Michigan State to somehow turn things around in the East.

Washington 26  #14 Arizona 27: The Pac-12 South remains wide open after a Casey Skowron field goal with time expiring winning the game for the Wildcats.

#16 Nebraska 24  #20 Wisconsin 59: The Cornhuskers fail in the moment of truth once again as Melvin Gordon broke and FBS record, running for 408 yards, leading Wisconsin back from 3-17 down.

#17 LSU 0  Arkansas 17: Finally an SEC win for Arkansas who came very close in other games, shutting out the Tigers and marking this as a terrible season for Les Miles.

Northwestern 43  #18 Notre Dame 40: Another loss to make this season more and more disappointing for the Irish, losing to a field goal in overtime.

#19 Clemson 6  #22 Georgia Tech 28: Two pick sixes and the usual difficulty of slowing down the triple option gave the Yellow Jackets a very big win in the wide open race of the ACC Coastal division.

Virginia Tech 17  #21 Duke 16: Typical of the Hokies to do so bad this season and then spoil everything for Duke, scoring the game winning touchdown in the fourth quarter and then holding on for 12 minutes.

#23 Utah 20  Stanford 17: Another close game for the Utes, who are at three losses which might mean they are out of the picture in the South division, but this has been an excellent season for a team struggling until now to cope with moving into a new conference.

Missouri 34  #24 Texas A&M 27: Missouri will surely be ranked after this win, remaining as the leading team in the SEC East, which could lead them to a second consecutive SEC championship game.
