Bucks Over Nets – Brandon Knight Makes it More Complicated Than it Should Be

Bucks beat Nets

The Milwaukee Bucks are doing what they’re not supposed to do, which is win a lot of games, beating the Brooklyn Nets 122-118 on the road in a triple overtime game that had Brandon Knight having an unbelievable layup miss that almost cost his team the game, but also a clutch three pointer that kept them alive in the second overtime.

Knight, who was on a very off, 5-of-20 from the field during the game, had a chance to win the game in the first overtime. With the game tied at 105-105, Joe Johnson made a terrible pass which was intercepted by Knight. The point guard, having just over five seconds on the clock, raced down the court and probably hurried his elevation and release a bit too much, as his layup hit the glass, the rim and bounced out.

In the second overtime the Nets held a 112-109 lead with 16 second to go, but Knight hit an open three-pointer to tie the game before Joe Johnson made another bad play, taking it to the hole on his own and missing the potential game-tying shot. Johnson had a few more of these in overtime, playing 52 minutes and not having the legs to pull off big shots at the end of the game.

There’s the miss…

The bench’s reaction…

And then there’s redemption

It was a very good night for Jabari Parker with 23 points. Giannis helped out with 18 and O.J. Mayo was quite productive off the bench scoring 21 points. Brook Lopez led the Nets scoring 26 points, followed by Bojan Bogdanovic (also missing a potential game-winner in the third overtime) scoring 19, Deron Williams adding 18 and Johnson scoring 18 points.

Jason Kidd got to win against his former team, improving to 7-5 on his second season as a head coach. At this stage last season, his Nets were 3-9. They’re not doing a lot better under Hollins, posting a 4-7 record.
