The Golden State Warriors carry on with their league best run which also leads to the best record in the league, beating the New Orleans Pelicans 112-85 with a big night for Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, making it the 11th straight victory for the Dubs.

Thompson led the Warriors with 23 points, hitting five times from beyond the arc as the Warriors ran away with the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Pelicans 31-12. Stephen Curry scored 19 points but was even more influential with his defense (four steals) and passing, finishing with 11 assists. The Pelicans had nothing to give in this game except another huge performance from Anthony Davis, scorign 30 points to go with 15 rebounds and 3 blocks.

As long as he was the only one firing on all cylinders, improving his average to 25.2 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3 blocks per game, the Warriors weren’t worried. Most of his points came when the game was already long gone from the reach of the Pelicans, struggling on defense with the Warriors’ ball movement. The Pelicans shot only 20% from beyond the arc and turned the ball over 17 times. Too many mistakes on a night the Warriors hit 45.5% of their 3-point attempts while not turning the ball over as much (only 9 times).

Three more players: Harrison Barnes scoring 17 points (with 10 rebounds), Dryamond Green with a 14-14 night and Marreese Speights, the best points-per-minute player in the NBA, scoring 12 in 17 this time, finished in double figures as well. The Warriors don’t just have the best record in the league, looking deep and dangerous in more than one way. Making Iguodala a sixth man has turned them into an even better defensive team, while Barnes finally has his confidence back after a rough second season coming off the bench.

That’s the best game we’ve played in a long time. Part of it was that we knew we were challenged by this team. It was good for our team to come in and feel threatened, and as a result kind of get our edge back. We’ve got such versatile defenders and such big wings; we might have the longest team in the NBA. And people don’t appreciate Steph’s defense as much as they should.

At 16-2, the Warriors are the only two-loss team in the NBA, holding a small advantage of one game of the Memphis Grizzlies who have lost three times so far.
