The 2014-2015 Bowl Season began with five games: The New Orleans Bowl won by Louisiana-Lafayette (as usual), the New Mexico Bowl in which Utah State team picked up the trophy, the Las Vegas Bowl with a ranked Utah team destroying Colorado State, the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl crowning Air Force as its champion and the Camellia bowl in Alabama, won by Bowling Green.
R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl: For the fourth consecutive time, the Rajin Cajuns out of Louisiana-Lafayette play and win in New Orleans, this time beating Nevada 16-3. Nevada were outgained by almost 200 yards, and couldn’t slow down quarterback Terrance Broadway, finishing with just five incompletions while throwing for 227 yards and the only touchdown of the game.
Gildan New Mexico Bowl: Utah State win their third consecutive bowl game to finish the season with 10 wins, beating UTEP 21-6, doing some remarkable work on defense, holding the Miners to only 3.9 yards per play and 5-of-20 on third down. Despite just 23 minutes of possession and only 68 passing yards for the Aggies, it wasn’t even close.
Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl: The only ranked team to play on the day, Utah, had no problems blowing Colorado State, 45-10, out of the water. Utah held a 21-10 lead at the end of the first quarter, and turned it into a route later on. Quarterback Travis Wilson threw for one touchdown pass and ran for three more. Devontae Booker ran for 162 yards and another touchdown as the Utes finish the season at 9-4, and probably a bit higher than #22.
Famous Idaho Potato Bowl: Troy Calhoun leads Air Force to a 10-win season for the first time in his eight years with the program, beating Western Michigan 38-22 on the blue turf in Boise. Air Force players rushed for 284 yards despite missing their leading running back, led by Shayne Davern who ran for 101 yards and a couple of touchdowns.
Racyom Media Camellia Bowl: The best game of the day in which Bowling Green came away with something of a road win against South Alabama, beating the Jaguars 33-28. Quarterback James Knapke threw for 368 yards and a couple of touchdowns while running back Travis Greene ran for a couple more.
