Match Highlights – Liverpool vs Arsenal

A fine match for Liverpool, still looking good without any strikers on the pitch, but again without a win, forced to score an injury time equalizer (Martin Skrtel) to end their match with Arsenal at a 2-2 draw, which doesn’t really help anyone.

Arsenal didn’t play well, but made the most of their chances in a match they failed to control the midfield in for the most part. Mathieu Debuchy scored the equalizer for them just before half time after some poor defending from Martin Skrtel, while the goal that brought them the lead came after minutes of pressure from Liverpool. Olivier Giroud scored from close range.

Naivety is probably the best way to describe Liverpool in this match. Plenty of chances, most of them from the edge or just inside the box, but most of their shots were took weak or just off the mark.

The opening goal came from some brilliant footwork from Philippe Coutinho, maybe the most dangerous player on the day for the team. He missed too many opportunities later on, with his finishing often too weak to really leave a mark.

Liverpool got nine minutes of added time to score their equalizer due to Skrtel’s head injury which somehow didn’t result in a red card for an Arsenal player. Eventually, Liverpool were the team to finish with just 10 men after Fabio Borini was sent off with a second yellow card. The refereeing wasn’t really even.

In the 97th minute, Adam Lallana found a wide open Skrtel with a corner cross. It leaves Liverpool at 10th with only 21 goals in 17 matches, while Arsenal remain four points behind fourth place.
