While in the United States Marshawn Lynch does everything in his power to avoid speaking to NFL reporters, things are different when he’s abroad, having no problem talking about that final play in the Super Bowl, possibly costing the Seattle Seahawks a second consecutive NFL championship.

Lynch is in Turkey for an American Football Without Barriers camp in the country, joining DeAngelo Williams and Gary Barnidge. In an interview with NTV Spor Lynch had no problem elaborating on the whole subject of Pete Carroll deciding to go with a short pass on the goalline instead of handing Lynch the ball. Wilson’s pass was intercepted and the New England Patriots won the Super Bowl.

To be honest with you, I would be lying if I didn’t tell you that I was expecting the ball. Yes, I was expecting the ball. But in life, these things happen. Like I told a reporter after the game, it’s a team sport. I had no problem with the decision of the play calling. I mean, you know, I think it was more of a … how do I say this? When you look at me, and you let me run that ball in, I am the face of the nation. You know, MVP of the Super Bowl, that’s pretty much the face of the nation at that point of time. I don’t know what went into that call. I mean, maybe it was a good thing that I didn’t get the ball. I mean, you know, it cost us the Super Bowl. I mean, I have full … I have full confidence in my teammates to execute that plan because we’ve done it so many more times. But would I love to had the ball in? Yes, I would have. But the game is over, and I’m in Turkey.

Back home, Lynch answered just one question after the game regarding that final play, simply saying that it’s a team game. Turns out Lynch doesn’t hate all media personalities or questions. He only hates answering the ones that he gets to see on a permanent basis, but the time for debating whether he’s right or wrong about the whole matter seems to be over, at least until the season actually begins again.

As for that final play, some people find it difficult to shake off the feeling of some conspiracy. There have been suggestions that the Seahawks didn’t want Lynch to win the MVP, something that might have happened had he run for the final touchdown. In a way, Lynch touched on the subject. So Pete Carroll went with Wilson, hoping that he’d quarterback become the face of the game, the face of the nation. Everyone ended up being disappointed.
