Nothing really changed at the top of the Spanish La Liga following game day 30, as Barcelona beat Almeria 4-0 followed by Real Madrid winning against Rayo Vallecano 2-0, which means Barcelona remain four points ahead of their big rivals.
Barcelona opened the day and took a stunning lead in the 33rd minute of their match with Almeria through non other than Lionel Messi, beating a player on the wing before sending a beautiful curling ball into the net from a surprising and difficult (not for him) angle.
That goal was followed by an even better one from Luis Suarez who is on quite a scoring spree of late. Suarez added another goal to complete a brace in the 92nd minute. In between Marc Bartra scored off of a corner kick.
In Madrid, a small derby was taking place, as Rayo tried to make things difficult for Real Madrid, and actually managed that for almost 70 minutes.
When Cristiano Ronaldo was booked for diving, it seemed like the visitors were about to lose their heads; Toni Kroos was booked as well for arguing with the official and Gareth Bale got booked for a harsh foul from behind.
But Rayo couldn’t make anything happen out of the turmoil Real Madrid were in, and there’s only so much Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale can miss. Ronaldo and James Rodriguez, who is a perfect two-for-two since coming back, scoring goals from inside the box within five minutes of each other to keep his team’s championship hopes alive.
