NBA Rumors – New York Knicks Interested in Signing DeMarre Carroll

DeMarre Carroll

A couple of good seasons from DeMarre Carroll with the Atlanta Hawks send him into free agency with plenty of interested parties, including the New York Knicks, a team Carroll wouldn’t mind playing for next season.

Carroll has been around the league since 2009 but after moving around quite a lot, he seems to have found an excellent niche with the Hawks, averaging 11.9 points and 5.4 rebounds as a starter for them over the last two years, including some very good defense and shooting very well (38%) from beyond the arc.

Of course, Carroll plans to build on that success and maybe make some of his dreams come true.

When guys talk about playing in certain places — they talk about Madison Square Garden and Staples Center. Those two places. New York has a lot to offer but at the end of the season, I’ll let my agent do that. We’ll keep our options and hopefully it will work out for the best.

Carroll is represented by Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports. Three of his players; Tim Hardaway Jr., Lou Amundson and Jason Smith are on the current Knicks roster, although only Hardaway will be playing for them next season among this trio. Derek Fisher loves Carroll and what he brings to the table, so it’s very possible it might happen.

Besides looking forward to a big pay day and having his pick of suitors in free agency, Carroll is excited about the NBA playoffs as the Hawks enter it with the number one seed in the East and expected to make it at least until the conference finals.

My biggest thing is coming in and doing what I do and show people what I can do. I think the team’s been winning and I’ve been playing my part. Basically being a junkyard dog. Free agency, that’s still a long ways. We’re trying to go deep in the postseason. My main focus is to go deep.
