One fantastic rookie season, with one catch no one can forget, has gotten Odell Beckham Jr. to be the new face of the NFL Madden franchise, gracing the cover of EA Sports’ “Madden NFL 16” video game.

Beckham, who caught 91 passes for 1305 yards and 12 touchdowns during his rookie season with the New York Giants, won the fan vote for the “award”, beating out Rob Gronkowski, Antonio Brown and Patrick Peterson. Beckham and Gronkowski were the two finalists.

Beckham ended up winning the NFL’s offensive rookie of the year award despite missing the first four games of the season. He’s now the youngest player to feature on the Madden video game cover (22), beating out Vince Young who was 24 when he appeared on the cover of Madden 08.

Madden curse? Probably long gone. The last two receivers to appear on the cover, Larry Fitzgerald and Calvin Johnson, both had very strong seasons following the announcement. Fitzgerald had 97 catches for 1,092 yards and 13 touchdowns and made the Pro Bowl during the 2009 season after appearing on the cover; Johnson caught 122 passes for an NFL-record 1964 yards in 2012.
