The Tampa Bay Lightning take a 2-1 lead in the Stanley Cup Finals thanks to a dramatic 3-2 win in game 3, beating the Chicago Blackhawks with a late goal from Cedric Paquette.
Ben Bishop played and was tremendous with 36 saves (94.7%), as the Lightning managed to respond quickly in their weaker period (third) after Brandon Saad put the Blackhawks in front for the first time in the game.
It took only 13 seconds after Saad’s goal for the Lightning to regroup, as Ondrej Palat scored his 8th goals of the postseason, and the Lightning managed to hold on under the pressure, until Paquette’s moment came.
The 21-year old scored a goal for the second consecutive game to give the Lightning the series lead, finishing a counter attack perfectly. Thomas Hedman did a great job of drawing the Blackhawks defense away from Crawford’s goal and Paquette sneaked behind one remaining defender, giving himself space and time to score the surprising winner from close range.
