NBA Rumors – Dallas Mavericks, Toronto Raptors & Milwaukee Bucks Interested in Drafting Rashad Vaughn

One of the more interesting players in the upcoming NBA draft is Rashad Vaughn, a shooting guard coming out of UNLV that isn’t going to be a lottery pick, but has a lot of teams a bit further down the order keeping tabs on him, including the Dallas Mavericks, Toronto Raptors and the Milwaukee Bucks.

Vaughn, a McDonald’s All-American in 2014 who played his high school basketball in Minnesota and later in Nevada, had a wonderful freshman year for the Rebels, averaging 17.8 points per game, named as the MWC Freshman of the year. One year was enough for him to go pro.

So where does he get picked? Anywhere between 15 and 25, but most mocks have him falling from 17 to 21. The Bucks, taking the 17th overall pick, seem to be worried someone might take him before that but that’s unlikely.

The Mavericks, picking 21st, are probably going to need adding two shooting guards next season, if Monta Ellis does indeed sign with someone else. Vaughn isn’t a starting player right now, not for a NBA team looking to make the playoffs, but as a backup? Not a bad idea at all.

The Raptors have the 20th overall pick and this postseason showed they need all the help they can get when it comes to their bench, and Vaught could be a quality backup to DeMar DeRozan and who knows, maybe develop quickly into a cheaper option who can put up similar numbers, if DeRozan continues to disappoint when it comes to his efficiency.
