NBA Rumors – Philadelphia 76ers Now Also Have Dario Saric Not Wanting to Play For Them

It’s going to be another year of waiting for the Philadelphia 76ers, hoping that Dario Saric finally decides he wants to leave Europe and come play for them. For now, he’s comfortable where he is.

Saric, or at least his agent, announcing that the Croatian wonderkid, who is now 21 and maybe the most promising young talent in European basketball at the moment, comes 24 hours after rumors that D’Angelo Russell and perhaps some other players have no interest in playing for the Sixers. Russell doesn’t have much of a choice if he’s selected and in any case he has said that it’s not true, but Saric, playing for Anadolu Efes in Turkey, has a choice.

The 12th overall pick in the 2014 draft (initially by the Magic, later traded to the Sixers), Saric had an excellent season with Efes in the Euroleague, averaging 9.9 points per game with 6.4 rebounds in 24.4 minutes a night.

Last year, after the draft, Saric said he’s going to play at least one more year in Europe but eventually will make it to the NBA. Now it seems it’s going to be at least one more year. Maybe he’s waiting for the Sixers to turn things around (although turning things around with him was part of the plan), or for them to trade his rights to a better team.

Either way, it’s hard to blame Saric, as it looks like the Sixers are headed towards a third consecutive season of awful tanking basketball, with no salvation in sight.
