NBA Rumors – Milwaukee Bucks Interested in Signing Tyson Chandler

If Tyson Chandler doesn’t re-sign with the Dallas Mavericks, he has a very eager suitor in the Milwaukee Bucks, which offers a possible teaming-up with a former teammate and partner in winning an NBA championship.

Per Dwain Price, Chandler is humbled that ex-teammate Jason Kidd wants him to play for the Bucks. The almost 33-year old center, who has played for the Bulls, Pelicans, Hornets, Mavericks and Knicks in his 14-year NBA career so far (high school draft pick), might be interested in adding another jersey to his growing collection.

Chandler, a vital part in the Mavericks winning the 2011 NBA championship, returned to Dallas last season from New York via trade. While it’s getting harder and harder for him to effectively defend elite big men in the league, he played well with 10.3 points and 11.5 rebounds per game, although his influence was mainly spotted when he wasn’t playing, as the Mavericks struggled on both ends of the floor when Chandler, playing 30.5 minutes a night, was resting.

The Bucks didn’t really play with a center last season, or at least not during the key moments of games. Chandler would be a good fit with their defensive approach although for a team that’s drastically looking for more creativity and good decision making on offense, Chandler isn’t exactly the perfect signing.

But Kidd isn’t just looking for ability. Chandler is experienced, a champion. A very young team surprised many and made the playoffs last year but lacked maturity and a few other things in their playoff loss to the Bulls. Bringing in someone like Chandler might help make sure they take the next necessary step towards maybe even greatness.

The Mavericks would like to keep Chandler, but they’re also flirting with the idea of convincing DeAndre Jordan to sign while keeping a close watch at the LaMarcus Aldridge situation.
