NBA Rumors – Dallas Mavericks First to Make a Move for Jeremy Lin?

It’s been quiet on the Jeremy Lin front for now, but things might be picking up if recent reports are to be believed, suggesting the Dallas Mavericks, maybe the team best suited for Lin in terms of style, minutes and role, are already moving the process of signing him forward.

According to Tim MacMahon, the Mavericks, who seem to be losing out on the LaMarcus Aldridge sweepstakes but could do well in the chase after both Wesley Matthews and DeAndre Jordan, have contacted a number of point guards and their free agents. MacMahon is guessing Lin is the one who ends up playing for the Mavericks.

It seems to be the best scenario for him, or close to it as possible. Lin should be a starting point guard there with the ball in his hands quite a lot. He should fit well in Rick Carlisle’s offensive system, and minutes/role won’t be a problem. Money-wise, a lot of it depends on whether or not Matthews and Jordan actually sign. That might lead to a mini mid-level offer, which might be a bit low for him, but it’s a bit early to talk numbers.

In any case, according to this fantastic article from the JLin Portal, pointed out to me by Lin is going to do well anywhere. I’m not completely on board with that assessment, but there’s no doubt that he’s too good to be wasted for another year by another team and coach, and even through those hardships, he usually finds a way of at least sometimes showing the league how good he can be.
