There were a lot of interesting players to watch in Las Vegas during a long day of NBA Summer League action. The New York Knicks putting Kristaps Porzingis on show was probably the most interesting of all, but getting to see Bobby Portis (Chicago Bulls), Jahlil Okafor (Philadelphia 76ers), D’Angelo Russell and others wasn’t exactly boring.

Porzingis finished his summer league debut with 12 points, 3 rebounds and 2 blocks. He didn’t try to do too much in the 18 minutes of basketball he got, while another rookie, Jerian Grant, added 12 as well. The Knicks beat the Spurs 76-75, as the losing side got 23 points from second-year player Kyle Anderson, who is hoping to get a bit more involved this season.

The Washington Wizards were probably pleased with their first round pick as well, getting 20 points from Kelly Oubre Jr. in a 86-77 loss to the Phoenix Suns. The Suns were led by more veteran players, as Archie Goodwin and T.J. Warren combined to score 42 points.

The Chicago Bulls looked very good in a 84-71 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Bobby Portis, the team’s first round pick out of Arkansas, scored 23 points to go with 7 rebounds. Doug McDermott, who had a rough rookie campaign, added 20 points. The Timberwolves showcased number one pick Karl-Anthony Towns with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks. Zach LaVine led the team with 20 points.

Marcus Smart had another strong performance for the Boston Celtics, scoring 19 points in a 85-76 win over the Portland Trail Blazers. Rookie Terry Rozier was disappointing once more with 7 points on 3-of-9 from the field.

The Lakers beat the 76ers in an awful game (68-60), in which Jordan Clarkson led the team scoring 19 points, while rookie D’Angelo Russell added 14, looking tired from the back-to-back experience, shooting just 4-of-15. Jahlil Okafor was the center of attention for Philly once again, scoring 19 points.

The Brooklyn Nets beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 76-75-, enjoying an improved performance from Rondae Hollis-Jefferson (15 points) and another solid game from Ryan Boatright (16 points). The Miami Heat beat the Utah Jazz 82-79, led by their second round pick, Josh Richardson, who scored 16 points.
