NBA Rumors – Sacramento Kings Interested in Signing Luc Mbah a Moute

Missing out on too many free agents, the Sacramento Kings are hoping that Luc Mbah a Moute doesn’t turn them down.

The Kings and the Cameroonian power forward seem quite close to a deal. He played nine games for the Kings in the 2013-2014 season before getting moved on to the Minnesota Timberwolves during the 2013-2014 season.

Mbah a Moute had his best offensive season in 2014-2015, playing 67 times for the Philadelphia 76ers, averaging 9.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game on 28.6 minutes a night. However, he remains an offensive weakness for any serious team (the Sixers aren’t a serious ball club at the moment, sorry) that plays him, shooting just 39.5% from the field and continues to perform well below the average league player when his team is attacking.

So what can the 28-year old do? He’s not a bad defender, capable of guarding both small forwards and power forwards. The Milwaukee Bucks relied on his defensive abilities and length for five seasons and maybe on the Kings that can be quite useful considering their problems on that end of the floor.

With Willie Cauley-Stein on board and DeMarcus Cousins at center, Mbah a Moute isn’t likely to be getting too many minutes, but the Kings are probably going to be taking it easy with Cauley-Stein, at least initially, which could give Mbah a Moute a chance to prove he knows a to do more than just play on one end of the floor. In any case, with the low demand for him around the league, this is one deal the Kings probably won’t miss out on.
