NBA Rumors – San Antonio Spurs & Sacramento Kings Interested in Signing Matt Bonner

As weird as it might be to imagine, Matt Bonner might not be playing for the San Antonio Spurs next season, currently in free agency, with an opportunity to play for the Sacramento Kings.

One of the finest examples of a stretch 4 role player who does the most with the few minutes he spends on the floor, Bonner isn’t going to be getting a lot of minutes on any team he get to join or re-sign with.

At 35, there’s pretty much just one thing he’s good for, and that’s hitting 3-pointer in certain lineups and for limited minutes. He averaged 3.7 points per game last season, playing in 72 games and even starting in 19 of them, playing 13 minutes a night which is quite consistent with his playing time over the last three years.

Bonner has been in the NBA since 2004, and after two seasons with the Raptors joined the Spurs, winning two NBA titles with them (2007, 2014). A consistent shooter from beyond the arc for most of his career, even leading the league from long range one season (45.7% in 2010-2011) and hitting 41.4% of his shots in his career, last season he dropped to 36.5%.
