After a year of preparations, the NBA will play its first exhibition game in Africa with Gregg Popovich and Lionel Hollins on the sidelines, while players like Chris Paul, Marc and Pau Gasol, Luol Deng and Serge Ibaka will be making an appearance.
The two teams will compete in the NBA Africa Game 2015 on August in Johannesburg, South Africa. The game benefits the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Africa, the Nelson Mandela Foundation and other youth charities in the country and will be played at Ellis Park Arena, which can seat up to 5000 people, and has already sold out its tickets.
Gregg Popovich will be the coach of team Africa which is captained by Luol Deng. The team consists of NBA players who are first- and second-generation descendants of families from Africa, even if some of them, like Ibaka (Spain), Batum & Diaw (France) and Deng (United Kingdom) have been appearing for European national teams in various international tournaments. Lionel Hollins will coach team world.
