The Barclays Asia Trophy was won by Arsenal, beating Everton 3-1 in Singapore through goals by Theo Walcott, Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil.
There were 52,107 fans in attendance at the National Stadium in Singapore for the final of the tournament, as Arsenal used a full-strength side to start, including goalkeeper Petr Cech between the posts, unable to keep a clean sheet due to Ross Barkley’s strike, while Tom Cleverley and Gerard Deulofeu got to start for the club.
Walcott put Arsenal in front in the 22nd minute despite the early Everton pressure, showing his pace by beating Seamus Coleman to the ball. Everton kept pressing in the first half but after the halftime break seemed to tire while Arsenal looked like the more confident, better side.
In the 58th minute Cazorla showed some fine skill in the box to put Arsenal two goals in front, and five minutes later set up Ozil for the clincher. Barkley scored his goal in the 75th minute, but it was far too late to deny Arsenal the victory and the trophy.
