Who would have guessed that DeAndre Jordan of all people and players was going to be the reason a rivalry is born? We still don’t know for sure, but expect the games between the Los Angeles Clippers and Dallas Mavericks this season, especially in Dallas, to be a bit feistier than the regular affairs between the two teams.

Jordan might not have been the best free agent this offseason, but his story certainly grabbed the most headlines. After already agreeing to leave the Clippers and sign with the Mavericks during the moratorium period, Jordan had a change of heart after the Mavericks were no longer capable of signing equally-impactful players, and re-signed with the Clippers the moment it was allowed to.

Doing this to certain teams might have been a quieter affair, but Jordan did this of Mark Cuban, who hasn’t been stopping talking about it ever since. Actually, there’s not much Cuban can do about it but talk.

Cuban isn’t going to be playing on the court, but the tension is probably going to be fed down to the players in any way possible when the Clippers come to town next season. Some of the players on the Mavs, Chandler Parsons more than anyone, are probably quite angry with Jordan as well, and wouldn’t mind a chance at some revenge, whatever that means.
