In another day filled with NBA preseason action, the Charlotte Hornets topped the Los Angeles Clippers in China with a good game from Jeremy Lin, the Orlando Magic beat the Houston Rockets who are worried about James Harden and his knee, the Washington Wizards had no problems against Brazilian team Bauru with a big win, with the same happening for the Los Angeles Lakers and Kobe Bryant in their comfortable victory over Maccabi Haifa of Israel.
Charlotte Hornets Beat Los Angeles Clippers 106-94 (China Game)
No Chris Paul meant an easier time for the Hornets, with Jeremy Lin putting on quite a show to the delight of the 17,000 plus at the Shenzhen Universiade Center. Lin played 28 minutes off the bench to score 16 points. Cody Zeller finished with 16 as well, and five more players on the Hornets scored in double-figures. For the Clippers, starting Pablo Prigioni at point guard, it was J.J. Redick with some nice shooting who led the way, scoring 23 points.
Washington Wizards beat Paschoalotto Bauru 134-100
Teams keep beating up the Brazilian visitors, this time in Washington. Marcin Gortat, playing off the bench, scored 19 points while Bradley Beal followed with 17. John Wall, who is on a quest to cut down his turnovers, finished with 7 points and 9 assists. Nene, the Wizards’ Brazilian, finished with 11 points and Otto Porter Jr. looked very good in the lineup scoring 12 on 5-of-6 from the field.
Orlando Magic beat Houston Rockets 123-119
The Rockets lost James Harden midway through the second quarter after he banged knees with Evan Fournier. Right now it’s a knee bruise, so it’s not going to keep him out for long, while Dwight Howard missed his second consecutive preseason game. Harden had time to score 12 points with 4 assists in his time on the court, while Corey Brewer with 20 points off the bench led the Rockets. Fournier had a great game for Orlando, scoring 19 points. Leading scorer for them was Devyn Marble with 21 off the bench.
Los Angeles Lakers beat Maccabi Haifa 126-83
The Lakers had no problem in a confidence booster of game against the Israeli team. Kobe Bryant scored 21 points including four 3-pointers, as the Lakers shot 53.8% from beyond the arc. Nick Young had 16 off the bench with four tres as well, and Ryan Kelly looked dangerous from long range (3-for-3) scoring 15 points. D’Angelo Russell came off the bench for 18 minutes, scoring 5 points and dishing out 11 assists.
