The Bosnian Diamond, 24 year old Edin Dzeko, finished with his physical and medical and whatever tests and became the first big transfer of the January transfer window and actually the most expensive transfer in England this season, leaving 13th placed Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga to Manchester City, near the top of the Premier League, for 27 million pounds.

Dzeko played four seasons with the German club, winning the Bundesliga in 2008-2009 and scored 66 goals in 111 league games with Wolfsburg. He won the Bundesliga players’ German Footballer of the Year for season in 2008-2009 scoring 26 goals. Last season he scored 22, leading the Bundesliga in scoring. It seemed he was on the verge of joining AC Milan last year after Wolfsburg began struggling repeating their fantastic title-run but no one was able to meet the price. This season, after a disappointing first half of the season in the Bundesliga and with City eager to burn some more cash, the deal materialized.

Dzeko signed a four and a half year contract and will probably make his debut next week on the 15th of January against Wolves. Dzeko mentioned that City’s place in the league and the chance to challenge for titles and play in the Champions League next year was the incentive to leave Wolfsburg.
