A quiet thursday night of NBA preseason basketball with only two games: Indiana Pacers beating the LeBron James-less Cleveland Cavaliers, tne a depleted Houston Rockets team losing 123-101 to the Golden State Warriors with an impressive shooting show from Stephen Curry.

Indiana Pacers beat Cleveland Cavaliers 107-85

Once again LeBron James didn’t play, which meant not a lot of chances for the Cavaliers to win their first preseason game. J.R. Smith did make a mockery of Paul George on one play but besides that, it was the Pacers all the way. George scored 17 points, Ian Mahinmi of all people finished with 16 and Monta Ellis had 14 points. Timofey Mozgov led the Cavaliers with 16 points, helped out by Richard Jefferson with 14 points and Smith scoring 10. The Cavaliers had just 1 fast break point, while shooting 27.3% from the field.

Golden State Warriors beat Houston Rockets 123-101

It was hard to find someone of import who was actually playing for the Houston Rockets, so it wasn’t surprising to see the Warriors walk away with the win easily, missing only Harrison Barnes from their list of regulars. Stephen Curry scored 19 points, including 14 coming in the second quarter and all of them in the first half. Klay Thompson finished with 16, Brandon Rush and Marreese Speights each had 12 points.
