One loss and everyone forgets how good you were on your previous start. David Price was having a great game until the Kansas City Royals decided enough is enough, piling the runs on him and the Toronto Blue Jays, resulting in the memes focusing on how bad his pitching performance was.
The Blue Jays had a 3-0 lead heading into the 7th inning. But the Royals then came storming with bases loaded and five runs to sink Toronto and take a 2-0 lead in the ALCS. Price is now 1-2 in this postseason, allowing a .262 batting average and worse, a 7.02 ERA.
Price wasn’t the only one with criticism heading his way. Jose Bautista hasn’t flipped a bat in two games, and no longer looks like the happy camper he was during the Texas Rangers series. The Blue Jays were 3-of-16 with runners in scoring positions. It’s hard winning in the postseason with these kind of numbers, especially when your opponent is 5-of-8.
Price will probably pitch again in this series, unless the Blue Jays plan on completely imploding now that things haven’t exactly gone their way. It’s usually not like that in a baseball playoff series with no huge difference between the teams on the surface. But with just three runs scored in two games at Kansas City, it might be the beginning of the end for the Blue Jays in the 2015 MLB postseason.
