The NLCS is over, and we have one team in the World Series, as the New York Mets complete the sweep of the Chicago Cubs with an 8-3 win. The Toronto Blue Jays stay alive in the ALCS with a 7-1 victory, although the Kansas City Royals are still in the lead (3-2).

The Blue Jays fight and win to see another day with some big hitting from their big bats while keeping the Royals quiet until one, too late and meaningless homer in the 8th inning.

Marco Estrada had a fantastic game, giving up just three hits in 7.2 innings, striking out five. Edinson Volquez allowed just three hits as well, but he gave up five runs, and never made it out of the sixth inning.

Chris Colabello kicked things off for Toronto with a home run single in the second inning. The sixth is where things got out of hand, as with bases loaded Edwin Encarnacion was walked to put the Blue Jays up by two, before a Troy Tulowitzki double scored three runners, and pretty much ended the night for the struggling Royals. Another Jose Bautista double brought in another RBI, and Kevin Pillar finished things off with an RBI double.

A 15-year wait is over for the Mets who sweep the Chicago Cubs to the astonishment of everyone, hoping to win their first championship since 1986.

While there was no ace pitching going deep, the Mets still handled the Cubs bats well enough, allowing just six hits and never letting them get too close. Nick Schwarber scored the Cubs’ first points when they were already 6-0 down. Kris Bryant hitting a home run in the 8th meant it was an 8-3 loss, not 8-1.

Lucas Duda opened things with a two-run homer in the first innings, and right away you could tell it wasn’t going to be the Cubs night, and it hasn’t been their series. d’Arnaud followed that with a single homer, and in the second inning Duda brought in two more RBIs with a double.

After the Schwarber RBI it was Daniel Murphy’s turn to his fourth home run of the series and seal the MVP (if it wasn’t already sealed), hitting a two run homer and making sure the Cubs lost all hope of making some sort of comeback.

This is a long time coming. We’ve been through some bad times. We’ve been through Septembers where you’re just playing out the schedule, and that’s no fun. To be able to completely reverse that 180 and now celebrate and get a chance to go to the World Series, I wish I could bottle it all. I really do. That’s an emotion I’ll never forget.
