The results of week 8 will make more than just standings changes, but also to the eventual rankings and the projections of who wins the divisions. Ohio State remain on top of things thanks to a dominant win over Rutgers. The same goes for Baylor, LSU and Clemson, but Utah losing to USC will do some damage in the Pac-12, and the same goes for Florida State, stunned by Georgia Tech in a huge ACC upset.

#1 Ohio State (8-0) 49  Rutgers (3-4) 7: The Buckeyes keep on impressing with J.T. Barrett solidifying his place as the best quarterback on the team. He threw three touchdown passes and ran for a couple more while Ezekiel Elliott also had two touchdown passes.

Iowa State (2-5) 27  #2 Baylor (7-0) 45: Baylor lead 35-0 before taking their foot of the gas, but quarterback Seth Russell suffered from a bone fracture in his neck, which might be very costly for the Bears for the remainder of the season.

#3 Utah (6-1) 24  USC (4-3) 42: No one understood why Vegas gave USC the edge in this game. Turns out they knew something was going to happen. Travis Wilson threw four interceptions, three of them to Cameron Smith who also brought one back for a touchdown. Cody Kessler looked solid with not a lot of field to work with, and we no longer have an undefeated team in the Pac-12.

Western Kentucky (5-2) 20  #5 LSU Tigers (7-0) 48: Brandon Harris threw three touchdown passes while Leonard Fournette ran for 150 and one TD in a pretty normal day for the Tigers, playing their fifth home game of the season.

#6 Clemson (7-0) 58  Miami (4-3) 0: A humiliating day for Miami at home against a Clemson team that’s turning out to be better and better as the season goes forward. Clemson players scored six rushing touchdowns and another via a pick six. Deshaun Watson threw one and ran for one.

Indiana (4-4) 26  #7 Michigan State (7-0) 52: It’s been a while since Michigan State impressed anyone, and it was once again only in the fourth quarter in which they seized control of the game. Connor Cook threw four touchdown passes, putting the ball 398 yards in the air.

Tennessee (3-4) 14  #8 Alabama (7-1) 19: Somehow Tennessee manage to blow another lead in the fourth quarter, as their one point lead at Tuscaloosa somehow turned into a loss, being unable to stop Derrick Henry with his second touchdown of the game to win it for Alabama.

#9 Florida State (6-1) 16  Georgia Tech (3-5) 22: The Yellow Jackets were on pace to be the disappointment of the season, but ended their five game losing streak by beating a team that hasn’t lost a regular season game since 2012, slowing down Everett Golson and Dalvin Cook while doing quite well on the ground with 261 rushing yards. However, they won on a blocked field goal being returned for a touchdown as time expired.

Washington (3-4) 14  #10 Stanford (6-1) 31: Slowly but steadily the Cardinal are establishing themselves as the class of the Pac-12, getting another great game from Christian McCaffrey, running for 109 yards and a touchdown.

Kansas (0-7) 10  #14 Oklahoma State (7-0) 58: The tragedy of before the game didn’t affect the Cowboys players from what the scoreline suggests, remaining undefeated while keeping Kansas win-less.

#15 Texas A&M (5-2) 3  #24 Ole Miss (6-2) 23: Chad Kelly didn’t look great (two touchdowns, three interceptions) but the Rebels defense made it a miserable day for Kyle Allen (completing just 12-of-34 passes) in a second straight loss for the Aggies.

Texas Tech (5-3) 27  #17 Oklahoma (6-1) 63: The Sooners ran for 405 yards and 7 touchdowns, including four by Samaje Perine (201 yards), getting help from Joe Mixon with two and 154 yards. Patrick Mahomes threw four interceptions for the Red Raiders.

#18 Memphis (7-0) 66  Tulsa (3-4) 42: Quite the shootout in Tulsa although Memphis’ lead was never in any doubt. Paxton Lynch threw four touchdown passes, Doroland Dorceus and Jamarius Henderson each ran for two touchdowns.

#19 Toledo (7-0) 51  UMass (1-6) 35: Toledo needed a 41-7 second half to get past a terrible Minutemen team, as Phillip Ely threw three interceptions alongside his five touchdown passes.

#20 California (5-2) 24  UCLA (5-2) 40: A way for the Bruins to get back into the top 25 and the now wide open Pac-12 South race, with a great day for Josh Rosen, throwing three touchdown passes and 399 yards.

#21 Houston (7-0) 59  UCF (0-8) 10: Greg Ward didn’t need to do too much with UCF throwing three interceptions and the running game getting 366 yards and five touchdowns, including three by Kenneth Farrow.

#22 Temple (7-0) 24  East Carolina (4-4) 14: A tough game for the undefeated Owls, pulling away late in the final 3:31 with two touchdowns after the Pirates made it very difficult for three quarters.

#23 Duke (6-1) 45  Virginia Tech (3-5) 43: Duke win in four overtimes. The Hokies took the lead with a touchdown by Travon McMillian, but the failed two-point conversion gave the Blue Devils the opportunity to win it, and a Thomas Sirk 25-yard pass to Erich Schneider plus a good conversion did the trick.

#25 Pittsburgh (6-1) 23  Syracuse (3-4) 20: A fake punt on 4th down gave Pitt the opportunity to score a game-winning field goal with time expiring. Qadree Ollison ran for two touchdowns.
