The thing standing out the most from the season opener between the Chicago Bulls and the Cleveland Cavaliers was LeBron James getting blocked by Pau Gasol on the final shot of the game, resulting in the memes focusing on him, and a bit on Tristan Thompson.
Why Thompson? Because he missed training camp and the preseason chasing a contract he doesn’t deserve, meaning that a Cavaliers team that needs him because of the injuries they’re having to deal with will have to wait for quite some time before he’s in full fighting form again.
But besides Thompson, all eyes were on James, who had a good game with 25 points and 10 rebounds, but helped feed the flames of the ‘not clutch’ fire one more, regardless of how many times he disproves this idiotic theory.
James went up for a game-tying shot in a set play that left him one on one with Pau Gasol. Unfortunately for James, the referees didn’t see the foul on him during the play (impossible to see without a replay) and was blocked, unable to get enough separation, resulting in a quite usual loss to the Bulls, which means there’s nothing to really get excited about.
