A controversial touchdown by Corn Elder is still probably the most amazing we’ve seen in a college football game, as Miami beat Duke 30-27 on a kickoff return with 8 lateral passes.

Duke scored a touchdown on  a Thomas Sirk 1-yard run with six seconds left in the game to take a 27-24 lead and almost definitely win the game but Miami, heading down the road of another disappointing season having fired their head coach Al Golden, provided the most incredible play we’ll see this season in the FBS.

Eight laterals, including one Miami player who appears to be down by contact but other reviews suggest he didn’t have full control of the ball so it should have been considered a fumble, and eventually Elder going all the way to win for Miami, who might not be close to being as dominant as they were in the 80’s and 90’s, but aren’t having too terrible of a season.

After the 8 laterals, Elder got the ball with about 90 yards to cover. But he had two blockers ahead of him to clear a path and not too many Duke players on his side, paving the way for the incredible finish.

Duke? They’ll be out of the rankings for this loss and lose a step in the very tight race for the Coastal division title, now dominated by North Carolina.
