Things keep getting worse for the San Francisco 49ers, although the memes choose to focus on one man – Colin Kaepernick, with Jed York and Reggie Bush also getting a little bit of hate.
The latest reason? Losing 27-6 to the St. Louis Rams, as the Niners offense manages to produce only 200 yards of offense. Kaepernick completed less than 50% of his 41 passing attempts, got sacked three times and made some weird decisions, including missing wide open receivers by ignoring them completely.
This is the second week in a row the 49ers have been held to 7 points or less, and it’s already the fifth time this season, out of eight games, in which they’ve been held to single digit scoring. Kaepernick is ranked near the bottom of the list when it comes to almost every meaningful stat for quarterbacks this season.
But this isn’t on him. It’s on Jed York, who tore up a well functioning package by driving away Jim Harbaugh and leading to a mass exodus of key players, some of them preferring to retire than play in San Francisco. Kaepernick is a symptom, not the real issue.
