While the Boston Red Sox have said a time or two they have no intention of breaking up their outfield some of their interest suggest otherwise, making teams like the Chicago Cubs and Kansas City Royals show interest in Jackie Bradley Jr.
The 25-year old who has been moved around the outfield quite a lot in his three seasons of service at Fenway park (playing just 238 games), and showed some impressive progress in his hitting during 2015, despite playing less than half the season.
From being a sub. 200 hitter with only four home runs through his first 164 games (479 at bats), he reached 10 home runs while hitting a .249, significantly increasing his power and ability to get on base. The Royals thrived on that approach and would like to add another player who seems to fit their mold, while the Cubs are looking for players who can add some more zip to their already impressive lineup. He’s a great defensive player with this weird sixth sense operating times when it comes to figuring out where the ball will land.
The outfield of Bradley, Mookie Betts and Rusney Castillo isn’t a bad one and it makes sense for the Red Sox to deny wanting to go in another direction, but these last two seasons have been difficult for them, and maybe the right kind of trade offer can get Bradley to move somewhere else.
