2015 College Football Season – Week 12 Scores & Standings

Clemson Tigers

A big weekend with Clemson, Alabama, Notre Dame and Iowa doing their job to stay on course, while Ohio State fall at home against Michigan State, Oklahoma State lose at home to Baylor and Oklahoma survive a scare against TCU but lose their starting quarterback, putting a lot of things on the line as we head into rivalry week.

Wake Forest (3-8) 13 Β #1 Clemson (11-0) 33:Β Nothing seems to be slowing down the Tigers despite two interceptions from Deshaun Watson, also throwing for three touchdown passes and running for one.

Charleston Southern (FCS, 9-2) 6 Β #2 Alabama (10-1) 56:Β Nothing to see here but the expected demolition of a pretty good FCS team.

#9 Michigan State (10-1) 17 Β #3 Ohio State (10-1) 14:Β The Buckeyes still don’t know how they weren’t behind for a single second in the entire game but still lost. The Spartans held them to 132 yards on offense, winning on a field goal as time expired.

Boston College (3-8) 16 Β #4 Notre Dame (10-1) 19:Β Playing at Fenway Park didn’t make things easy for the Fighting Irish against the tough BC defense, but a 19-3 lead to start the fourth quarter with got them enough of a cushion.

Purdue (2-9) 20 Β #5 Iowa (11-0) 40:Β The Boilermakers made it difficult for a few short minutes, but the Hawkeyes turned to their quarter, C.J. Beathard, who threw three touchdown passes, to clinch the Big Ten West title, setting themselves up for a conference championship game.

#10 Baylor (9-1) 45 Β #6 Oklahoma State (10-1) 35:Β The shakeup in the Big 12 continues with the Cowboys losing their undefeated status, falling 38-14 behind before starting to move up again. Baylor ran for 304 yards in what they hope helps them in the eyes of the playoff committee, as once more the Big 12 eating itself alive might prevent it from getting a playoff spot.

#18 TCU (9-2) 29 Β #7 Oklahoma (10-1) 30:Β The Sooners should be the top team in the CFP rankings when they come out, but losing Baker Mayfield might be bigger than that, stopping a 2-point conversion in the final minute to win the game.

Florida Atlantic (2-9) 14 Β #8 Florida (10-1) 20:Β The Gators won in overtime, managing just 252 yards against one of the worst teams in the country.

California (6-5) 22 Β #11 Stanford (9-2) 35:Β The Cardinal clinched their spot in the conference championship game thanks to a win against the deteriorating Cal, with Christian McCaffrey running for 192 yards.

#12 Michigan (9-2) 28 Β Penn State (7-4) 16:Β Jake Rudock threw a couple of touchdown passes and the defense did the rest of the work, as Michigan come in riding high on momentum to face Ohio State next week.

UCLA (8-3) 17 Β #13 Utah (8-3) 9:Β UCLA snatch the rug from under Utah to now put themselves one win away from winning the division, forcing two turnovers and doing a great job of slowing down an offense missing its best player.

Chattanooga (FCS, 8-3) 13 Β #14 Florida State (9-2) 52:Β Nothing special about beating up an FCS team.

#15 LSU (7-3) 17 Β #22 Ole Miss (8-3) 38:Β The Tigers lose for the third time this season, while Chad Kelly threw for two touchdowns and ran for a couple more, in another season leaving Ole Miss wondering why they didn’t do a little bit better. Les Miles on the other hand is feeling a lot of pressure.

#16 Navy (9-1) 44 Β Tulsa (5-6) 21:Β More of the same from Navy, rushing for 469 yards while throwing the ball just three times.

#17 North Carolina (10-1) 30 Β Virginia Tech (5-6) 27:Β Frank Beamer couldn’t win on his final home game, while the Tar Heels remain undefeated in the ACC, winning on aΒ Quinshad Davis touchdown in overtime despite the Hokies scoring first with a field goal.

#19 Houston (10-1) 17 Β Connecticut (6-5) 20:Β Noel Thomas stood out with two touchdown receptions, including a 45-yard one on a trick play in the fourth quarter to finish the undefeated season of the Cougars.

#20 Northwestern (9-2) 13 Β #25 Wisconsin (8-3) 7:Β Northwestern forced five turnovers and held Wisconsin to 203 yards in a game that had just four moments of someone scoring some points.

#21 Memphis (8-3) 12 Β Temple (9-2) 31:Β Great defense from Temple caused Memphis to drop another game, finishing the game with a 17-0 run in the fourth quarter.

#24 USC (7-4) 28 Β #23 Oregon (8-3) 48:Β In the end, this season isn’t so bad for the Ducks, winning five in a row as they head to Civil War, with Vernon Adams throwing six touchdown passes in a game with 1002 total yards of offense and only two turnovers despite the frantic pace.
