2015 NFL Season – Two Undefeated Teams Left After Week 11

2015 NFL Season – Two Undefeated Teams Left After Week 11

Cam Newton

With almost all of week 11 games come and gone, we still have the same two undefeated teams remaining: Carolina Panthers and the New England Patriots, who need to finish the job on Monday Night Football.

While the Patriots have a date with Rex Ryan, his mouth and the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football to try and remain perfect, the Panthers finished their job early by running all over the Washington Redskins, improving to 10-0. Cam Newton is no longer leaving things for the last minute, throwing five touchdown passes without an interception, three of them before half time. He finished the game with 246 passing yards, completing 21-of-34, and also rushing for 16.

The Redskins did make things difficult for the Panthers in the first quarter (14-14), but Kirk Cousins had no run support (only 14 yards on the ground for Washington) and was sacked five times, resulting in two fumbles. The Redskins finished with just nine first downs (27 for Carolina) and had possession of the ball for just over 21 minutes. And no, he didn’t like it.

The Panthers have now won 14 regular season games in a row dating back to last season. They’re cruising through the NFC, and there’s no one remotely close to them in their own division, with the Falcons losing four in five to fall into a 6-4 record, putting pressure on them from behind by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 5-5.

As for other Super Bowl contenders? The Arizona Cardinals, 8-2, beat the Cincinnati Bengals, 8-2 as well after the loss, on a late field goal. It’ll come down to one of these four teams to win it all this season, although the Denver Broncos finding victory through Brock Osweiler and the Green Bay Packers having an impressive win on the road against the Minnesota Vikings might put the two of them back into the mix of Super Bowl championship discussions.
